India is a land of diversity & blessed with several stunning landscapes. The country offers you every tiny bit of the world’s climatic conditions and natural beauty. Treks in the snow of the north or rainy mountains of the west will give you the thrills of a lifetime. Whereas the beaches will give you all the calming effects of the therapy without having one. The traveling expert has given us everything we need. So, let’s see what she has for us.

MUST DO TREKS

  1. CHADAR TREK

The meaning of Chadar in this trek is the sheet of snow ice from the water of the river, on which you trek. This trek is carried in the beautiful river of Zanskar which flows through Leh Ladakh. So, to begin you need to travel for 3 hours from Leh to reach the beginning point of the trek. The Zanskar river is a flowing river and still has a thick sheet of ice formed due to the area’s climatic state and the location at such heights. So, the very first campsite is at Shingra Koma. Then the next stop is at the Tibb cave. While trekking for the 2nd campsite you will experience the best rays of the sun for just a little while. Then the final campsite is the Nerak Village. Before which is the ‘Frozen Falls’ truly called the Nerak Waterfalls. The beauty of the rising morning with a cup of hot morning tea will make forget all your tensions, sorrows, regrets, and guilts. You will be enchanted by the magic of the river, the mountains & realize what we miss in our city lives and what this change means.

TIP:

Take penguin steps in Chadar (ice road) as there are slippery areas & they help you to balance the weight of your luggage with your own body weight. Always carry the medical test card that you are compulsorily given in Leh so that ups and downs in the body can be monitored and emergencies can be avoided.

  1. KALSUBAI PEAK TREK

Kalsubai also known as the ‘Everest of Maharashtra’ is the highest peak in the state. The peak comes under the Sahyadri Mountain ranges of Maharashtra. The waterfalls, green luscious grasslands, forests & historic forts are bonus views with the peak trek. The reason the peak is called Kalsubai is the religious holy temple of the Hindus is called the Kalsubai Mandir. It is also a huge reason for the attention the peak receives. Kalsubai is 1646 meters high above sea level. At such heights, the Kalsubai Peak gifts us with the views of nearby forts like Alang, Madan & Kulang. If lucky and trekking on a clear day there are chances for one to see more neighboring forts such as Harihar gad, Harishchandra gad & Ratan gad. The most popular pattern here is the night trek. The best time to visit Kalsubai Peak is after the monsoon where you can see lush green landscapes & experience trekking in heavy rains. This is also the most crowded time of the year, but it is a million-dollar view. The flowering season begins from September to October when different wildflowers bloom in the post-monsoon time of the year.  The Kalsubai temple also has a mysterious story to it and to know more either visit Kalsubai or stay in suspense.

TIP:

carry a cap, insect repellent & a sturdy stick, or a trekking pole as it gets slippery during monsoons. While drinking water, do not rush in gulping all of it at a time. You might feel extremely dehydrated at times but sit down for a few minutes & just 1 or max 2 sips of water. The oxygen levels drastically change due to the increasing heights and reduction in oxygen as you go upwards. Maintain your stamina and use your energy properly.

  1. CHANDERKHANI PASS TO MALANA

The Chanderkhani Trek is the most talked about in Manali. The Chanderkhani trek started from 3 routes Rumsu, Rulan & Jana. The first campsite that you encounter is Chaklani. Reaching Chaklani takes about 6-7 hours excluding the breaks and also depends on your speed of trekking. The mountains are steep & might scare you, but with the thrill, it will be a memory you will never want to forget.  The steepness increases as you move down towards Malana. Radhika recommends the trek to all & especially those who love that little risk & feel of adrenaline.

TIP:

Carry mini camping necessities such as a DIY stove, lighter or matchbox, and a vessel to cook or heat. Also, carry kerosene balls to light fire faster as the wood or dried leaves have a higher chance of being wet due to uncertain rains in the area. A first aid kit is a must item in your trekking backpack.

FUN+PEACE=BEACH

  1. RADHANAGAR BEACH, ANDAMAN

Radhanagar beach is located on the Havelock Island of the Andamans. It is also ranked 1st in the list of top 25 Beaches in Asia by Trip Advisors. The turquoise blue sea & white sand of the beach is an exclusive experience of the beauty inside the country & the beauty of nature. A trip to the islands can be expensive, but every penny is worth the visit.

  1. BAMBOLIM BEACH GOA

Bambolim Beach is a not-so-famous beach and that’s the reason it is on our list. Bambolim is a secluded beach located in the northern part of Goa & is 7km from Panaji & named after the Village Bambolim itself. The Bambolim beach is the perfect spot for peace lovers. The beach is not a well-known tourist site as the majority public is attracted to the Baga & other major beaches. Hence, the Bambolim is clean, quiet, and mesmerizing. The Bambolim Beach Resort which is located nearby provides rooms & is also a great spot for typical Goan cuisine. The sunrise & sunset make the best romantic lighting for walks and bonding talks.

  1. GOKARNA BEACH, KARNATAKA

The wide extended white sand, peaceful waters of the sea & the calm setting of the sun will make your stay a little longer or a feeling of never leaving the beach. Apart from the sunrise and sunset, the beach has also gained popularity for the water sports like Banana rides, thrilling jet ski rides, snorkeling & bumper rides. Gokarna is also one of the few beaches in India where you can enjoy surfing.

TIP: If planning on participating in water sports, carry an extra pair of clothing. To avoid being charged extra, book everything beforehand. Also, check the weather forecast for storms or extreme sun.
